Solutions Assistant, Public Policy

 Heart+Mind Strategies is seeking individuals who are excited to begin a career in market research, strategy, and consulting! 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Through their support of all phases of qualitative and quantitative research projects, our Solutions Research Assistants are vital members of each client team. As a research assistant, you will support a broader team in accurately and efficiently executing all components of research projects, including but not limited to: ensuring quality throughout the project lifecycle; creation of compelling and graphically pleasing deliverables; secondary research; and project coordination and management. This position does include occasional nights and weekends as needed for qualitative focus groups. 

Our research work increasingly leverages innovative technologies and AI-powered tools to deliver deeper insights faster. We’re looking for adaptable team members who are excited to experiment with emerging tools while mastering the fundamentals of rigorous market research.

DESIRABLE BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, social sciences (e.g., statistics, sociology, psychology, demography), marketing, communications, or related field 
  • Strong analytical orientation with a demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and summarize data 
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills (a must) 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products (including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word) 
  • Internship or professional work experience (any industry) 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid office environment 
  • While our Public Policy team values a broad spectrum of perspectives, we are seeking a candidate who will be enthusiastic about working on projects centered on right-of-center public policy topics. 
  • Experience with a statistical software package (SPSS, Stata, R, etc.) is preferred but not required.

SALARY RANGE

$50,000 – $60,000

This role is currently remote, with team members working across multiple locations. While we anticipate establishing a Reston, VA office in the future, timing and in-office expectations have not yet been determined. We welcome candidates from a range of locations, with a preference for those who are able to engage with the team in person should in-office opportunities arise over time.
