We are seeking a Senior Director to be responsible for independently directing all market research and consulting aspects for our public policy business focusing on free-market and conservative organizations and goals. Heart+Mind Strategies works with several non-profit policy organizations but does not work directly for any political party or candidate for elected office.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Those successful in this position prepare concise and compelling descriptive and analytical reports that require minimal senior involvement and are comfortable preparing appropriate research-based and strategic recommendations. Senior Directors are required to interact with clients throughout the research engagement process (from business opportunity to discussing recommendations/imperatives), often serving as the sole representative of Heart+Mind Strategies. This position is to support a conservative book of business, so ideology must align with that of our clients’.
TYPICAL ACTIVITIES
A qualified applicant has fully mastered the individual components of a research engagement (both qualitative and quantitative) and be well equipped to have significant input into research designs, often independently and in consultation with the client. You will autonomously manage all aspects of research execution and will also successfully oversee and mentor others in research execution.
IDEAL CANDIDATES HAVE:
Successful applicants will need subject matter knowledge, familiarity, and expertise with the following:
- United States lawmaking institutions and the legislative process and practices
- Campaigns and elections
- United States government institutions, bureaus, and federal agencies
- Political organizations, think tanks, and foundations
- Judicial and Constitutional issues and processes
- Roles and players involved in the public policy
- Key dynamics of political and policy issues
- Basic demographic and political composition of issue constituencies and coalitions
The following background/experience is desirable upon hire:
- Minimum of seven (7) years progressive experience in market research, with a minimum of five (5) years in a market research supplier organization
- Demonstrated market research project management expertise
- Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative market research, both traditional and online
- Demonstrated experience in autonomously developing research design recommendations and research-based implications, recommendations, and imperatives
- Demonstrated experience in successfully managing key aspects of client interaction, including both face-to-face and “at a distance” interactions
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- People management experience ideal and strongly preferred, but not required
